As a child, I enjoyed climbing trees into the telephone wires and reading tales of adventure, from The Swiss Family Robinson to Alice Through the Looking Glass. As it turns out, one can find the oddities of Gulliver’s Travels in nature, albeit on a requisite of pain and hallucination, let’s say, born of exhaustion… and isn’t that worthwhile?
The underpinnings of a youthful exuberance return to me for guidance. I meditated in a Taoist tradition, held Hopi magic, and chased Coyote across the American Southwest, all in my mind. Now, I do this in my body. One day, maybe, in my spirit.

I love concepts, and easily drop the details — Luckily I find myself with a partner that has a knack for finding words and loves stories as much as I do. I can be independent to a fault, so learning that I can have both a space to share goals and experiences, and also the freedom to disappear in my own head, or out into the world — and feel welcome and wanted in each of these places is everything. I get to be silly and brazen and wrong — and even take myself way too seriously when I really care about something, and Herman is with me. Sharing my thoughts doesn’t come easily, however when I look around at the people I admire; my partner, my friends, mentors and family — I see that they are genuine and flawed and being themselves all the way. And I love them for it.
